Yoga and work on the hand
with Raquel Moon & Johanna Michahelles
11.-17.08.2024
Body awareness training, yoga and fascia training for riders - supplemented by sessions in classical handwork - at the beautiful Lusitano stud farm "Yeguada La Perla" in Segovia, Spain
The first requirement of the rider's seat is balance. Only from a balanced seat can the rider's actions lead to the goal. And only from a balanced seat can it be possible to merge with the horse instead of interfering with its movements. A rider who sits in a relaxed, stable and balanced position, independent of the reins and at the same time in harmony with the horse's movements, is a prerequisite for fine and harmonious riding.
Achieve an optimized body awareness and harmonious harmony with your horse through targeted yoga and fascia training with lots of theory and "listening to yourself" for riders.
What does that mean in detail?
The rider should be able to sit in balance in any situation without holding on to the reins. The rider should "exist" only from the elbow, so to speak, and the rest, the forearm and the hand should be like "belonging to the horse". The horse's mouth should be accompanied only with an elastic connection that is comfortable for the horse. The rider's thigh is "breathing" against the horse's belly. The mind rides along mindfully. The rider's body should be able to follow the movement completely loosely and, at best, not show any tension or even blockages anywhere. A certain inner stability is of course still necessary, without which one would slide off the horse. The optimum is when the rider's body remains fluid in the movement of the horse, in harmonic balance with the horse.
A very complex demand on us riders!
Schedule
Every morning there is a 1.5 hour yoga session with Raquel for all participants. This is followed by individual sessions of classical work in hand with Johanna.
The afternoons are at the participants' free disposal. Additional sessions in classical handwork or lunge work can be booked with Johanna. It is also possible to book additional massages at the Zentro (Raquel's massage practice) in Sotosalbos. We are also happy to advise you on excursion tips (canoeing or hiking in the Geier Valley, La Granja Castle and Park, Segovia,...).
About Raquel
From an early age, Raquel was passionate about sports, the human body and Eastern culture. She began to train in manual therapies such as acupressure, reflexology, Tibetan massage, until life led her to specialize in chiromassage. Further training in traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture, moxibustion, study of medicinal plants) followed. At the same time, yoga has always been an essential part of her life and its practice has helped her a lot on a mental and emotional level, which is why she began yoga training in India in 2017.
About Johanna
Johanna has been riding since she could walk. Her mother taught her the basics of riding in classical dressage and centered riding according to Sally Swift. From early 2017 to mid-2019, Maren Schulze (trainer A, examiner for amateur sport) at the "Hengsthof am Wümmegrund" gave her the opportunity to learn more about classical riding according to baroque principles and to gain a lot of knowledge and increased experience with different horse breeds and training levels.
During her first encounter with La Perla in summer 2019 as a trainee, she also gained further valuable experience here, especially in the area of young horse training. From October 2021 to summer 2023 she worked with us as a rider.
