Special births...

As I told you yesterday, Querido's birth was the first I was allowed to witness. Since then, I have had the honor of being present at a birth several times.

Today I'm going to tell you about a few very special births that I will never forget:

On April 27, 2021, our vet Fernando was here in the afternoon. We were stitching up a small wound on a youngster who had been playing too hard when my phone displayed a voice message that immediately sent me into a state of joyful excitement: a member of staff who was in the pasture with the mares said that a mare was starting to give birth to her foal.
I asked Fernando to please stitch up as quickly as possible so that we could go to the mare. It felt like the last stitches were taking forever! 😄

When we arrived at the pasture, we saw that it was Jirona who had her first foal. As the birth had been going on for a while, we checked that everything was OK and saw that one of the foal's front legs was slightly out of position. We started to help and within a short time a beautiful filly was born.

Jirona rested gratefully and we stood at a distance to watch the foal arrive in the world. Even when it started to rain lightly, we stood still and admired the new life. After a short time, the little one made her first attempts to stand up. When she finally stood and looked for the milk bar, it stopped raining, the sun came out and a huge rainbow stretched across the sky. As 2021 was the R year, her name was quickly decided: Rainbow la Perla.

15.5.2022 was another very, very special day. Like every morning, I was out in the pasture early and immediately looked for Sorraya, who had clearly shown over the last few days that she would soon have her foal. It was also a full moon, which made a birth even more likely. And right, from a distance I could see that she was no longer alone and had a cute foal lying next to her.

As I approached carefully, I suddenly heard a splashing sound behind me, turned around and discovered Dinastía, whose waters had just broken and who was about to give birth. I stayed with her, watched to make sure everything went well and helped her a little with the birth. A very special little fox saw the light of day.

While I was still with her, I saw further away that a new foal was lying next to Atrevida too! When I was sure that everything was fine with Dinastía and her daughter, I went to Atrevida to admire her son.

I discovered two more mares who had had their foals. 5 foals in one day!!! I didn't know where to look first!

When I had almost completed my inspection round, I realized that I hadn't even seen Jirona, Rainbow's mother. I went in search of her and finally discovered her a little further away, between the trees, with a beautiful colt at foot! 6 foals in one day!!! An incredible gift, an incredible morning!

This spring, on April 28th in the afternoon, Katrin called me and told me that Garbosa had her foal! I drove to the pasture as quickly as I could and her son was born in light rain. The sun appeared in the sky at the same time and a double rainbow stretched across the sky. It was an incredible atmosphere! The universe showed itself in all its splendor with all its elements. So it was only natural that we named the little man Universo!

The photos taken that evening show how special it was!
